Having trained alongside renowned Australian food icons Neil Perry and Kylie Kwong in the early days of his career, Benjamin then moved overseas, furthering his trade and broadening his food horizons with a stint in the UK. He worked with fellow Aussie John Torode, Head Chef at Terrance Conran’s iconic Bluebird, before moving onto the position of Junior Sous Chef at Torode’s own Smiths of Smithfield.

This was followed by roles at the legendary Nobu and Nahm in The Halkin Hotel — Europe’s first Michelin-starred Thai restaurant — before a return to Australia with Head Chef appointments at Melbourne’s Ezard and Longrain.

Benjamin has been the Executive Chef of Chin Chin since its Melbourne launch in 2011, helping expand the restaurant concept with great success to Sydney and now Geelong. He is responsible for redefining the language of Southeast Asian cuisine in Australia and been instrumental in Chin Chin becoming a true Melbourne institution.
