Here in Noosa we take Planet Earth seriously. And at Noosa Eat & Drink Festival, we're changing our own practices to create a truly sustainable event experience.
When you’re visiting our beautiful region we ask you to please treat it with respect and join us in being good environmental citizens.
Here's how to enjoy Noosa Eat & Drink Festival while keeping your green credentials in check:
We've teamed up with Tourism Noosa to support their Trees for Tourism initiative. $1 from every Festival Village ticket purchased will go to Noosa & District Landcare’s Noosa Trail Network rehabilitation initiatives. Your contribution as part of the Festival Village ticket price will help provide shade trees for walkers, assist with erosion and improve the habitat for local wildlife species.
We're working with Plastic Free Noosa to continue to eliminate single-use plastics, reduce plastic waste, implement composting and help educate our patrons to deliver as sustainable a Festival as possible.
No matter which Noosa Eat & Drink Festival events you're heading to, you don't need to print your ticket! Just show us your ticket on your mobile and we can scan it from there.
Not only are we eliminating single-use plastics at the event, we have committed to composting our disposable alternatives! All the food and the packaging used by our Festival Village vendors are compostable products which can go in our designated bins. We will then be delivering this to our composting partner and turning as much of the festival waste as we can back into dirt for our farmers and environment and diverting it from landfill.
We cherish the ocean at our doorstep and Queensland has gone plastic-bag free. At the Festival, we consider this to mean no plastic carry bags, any thickness. Please consider bringing a small reusable bag from home to carry all your treasures.
We're also choosing to work with suppliers who are doing good things in their own day to day operations, from recyclable kegs to solar panels to offset their daily energy output.
Learn from the best in the business at our Festival Village, chefs, producers and drinks purveyors will be running daily sessions providing tips on what to do at home.
OzHarvest will be collecting surplus food that is still fit for human consumption and donating that food onward to our almost 50 charities, schools, community centres and programs that are providing food to people in need in our community. This initiative will have a twofold effect: first, the team are able to feed community members in need with the donated surplus and second, we are diverting food from landfill.
$1 from every Restaurant Event ticket purchase will be donated to OzHarvest, helping provide nourishing meals to those who need it most – $1 equals 2 meals.
